We are a growing organization, and we are seeking a Commissioning Engineer with a specialization in Controls to join our Paint and Final Assembly Systems division. Together, with the momentum of our business vision, we can achieve international success and added innovation in all of the themes which Dürr influences at a global level.

Position Summary: The Group Leader is responsible for the Leadership of the Mechanical engineering for conveyors. This person will provide overall project coordination and lead all aspects of engineering.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:    

  • Administration of the Conveyor Systems group
  • Provide man-loading projections
  • Determine the appropriate staffing of the department and allocation of staff to projects
  • Prepare estimates of department costs for proposals
  • Provide budget estimates and control budgets
  • Responsible for design integrity
  • Act as a liaison with client
  • Generate engineering schedules and ensure schedule compliance
  • Support the selection and control of suppliers and Purchased Equipment vendors
  • Ensure quality and operational procedures are followed
  • Support and liaise with other departments as required
  • Act as liaison with Executive Management
  • Implement product standards
  • Conduct performance reviews of staff
  • Maintain project schedules
  • Interpret mechanical drawings
  • Selection of purchased equipment
  • Development of subcontract bid package documentation
  • Manage budgets for purchased equipment and engineering labor costs
  • Supervision of subcontract engineering and design engineers (CAD)
  • Responsible for complete system design, analysis, and engineering calculation
  • Attend and/or conduct design reviews
  • Support on-site installation and commissioning crew as required
  • Perform site verification and field checking as required
  • Attend customer meetings to understand project requirements
  • Communicate with project team, customers, and suppliers
  • Understand, diagnose, and solve real or potential design problems
  • Provide technical support in the business development for General Assembly conveyor system

Nonessential Functions:

  • Perform other related duties as assigned


  • Working knowledge of mechanical engineering disciplines used in conveyor engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate an engineering team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Flexible, dependable, and creative
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field, Masters a plus
  • 5 years of position related experience
  • Design engineering calculation ability
  • Able to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings
  • Ability to learn and utilize Microsoft Visio
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus
  • Ability to understand and maintain project schedules
  • Good time management skills with the ability to determine priorities
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Able to effectively communicate with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers, and customers
  • Able to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Able to technically define problems and propose solutions
  • Adaptable to change in a learning environment
  • Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary
  • German and/or Spanish language skills preferred


Physical Demands: While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision.
