We are a growing organization, and we are seeking a Commissioning Engineer with a specialization in Controls to join our Paint and Final Assembly Systems division. Together, with the momentum of our business vision, we can achieve international success and added innovation in all of the themes which Dürr influences at a global level.

Position Summary: This is a Senior Management level position reporting to the Director of Operations. The successful candidate must possess strong managerial skills and be able to work in an open team environment on large and small projects of varying durations. In this position the Senior Manager will be responsible for the oversight/management of the startup/commissioning personnel to meet the project goals and schedules. He or she must work closely with the individual Project Managers to ensure that installations are complete, ready for startup and the necessary resources and plans are in place for a successful startup and launch. The position will entail frequent travel and possibly extended stays at the job site(s)

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:     

  • Assign the correct resources to meet the project goals.
  • Assist in the development of detailed installation and start up schedules and track accordingly.
  • Frequent visits to job sites to ensure schedule compliance.
  • Develop and implement key personnel indicators for site managers, site supervisors and commissioning people to be reviewed each year.
  • Hiring of qualified personnel to meet project(s) loading requirements
  • Ensure all necessary base line and documentation requirements are met, filed correctly and conform to standard templates.
  • Ensure work is performed within the project budgets.
  • Develop and implement training programs for commissioning personnel to stay abreast of latest technical trends.
  • Work within the guideline of the Durr corporate Site Management manual.
  • Provide weekly update status on all jobs to Director of operations.
  • Attend and / or support project meetings
  • Prepare monthly project progress updates for customer as required in conjunction with project manager
  • Conduct or support project closeout report / meeting
  • Travel approximately 50%

Nonessential Functions:

  • Perform other related duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an appropriate subject (e.g., engineering, construction management)
  • Position related experience in similar industry strongly preferred
  • Familiar with basic electrical and mechanical engineering principals
  • Familiar with PID schematics and controls
  • Familiar with regulatory standards (OSHA, NFPA, BOCA)
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus
  • Proficient with electronic scheduling
  • Ability to understand and maintain project schedules
  • Good time management skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Able to effectively communicate with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers, and customers
  • Able to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Able to technically define problems and propose solutions
  • Adaptable to change in a learning environment
  • Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary

Physical Demands: While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision.
