As a systems supplier, we plan and build complete paint shops and final assembly facilities. We also manufacture and supply automotive and industrial paint and sealing robotics. We are a growing organization, and we are seeking a Customer Service Specialist to join our team. Together, with the momentum of our business vision, we can achieve international success and added innovation in all of the themes which Dürr influences at a global level.

 

Location: Southfield, MI

 

Position Summary: The Customer Service Specialist is responsible for new product placement in existing customer facilities. This person will be responsible for testing and validating industrial products in automotive plants & the general industry. This includes hands-on technical assistance, spare parts management, and sales lead generation.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities        

 

  • Validation of all INP products at OEM's and Tier 1 Automotive customers
  • Installation and service of all INP products with existing and new customers
  • Conduct regular plant visits
  • Test and repair equipment at customer site
  • Provide emergency service and telephone support
  • Provide start-up and commissioning at customer site
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of contractors
  • Staging, inventory, repair, emergency service, deliveries, and equipment monitoring
  • Create installation and documentation reports
  • Comprehensive technical sales, design, and implementation of small projects in both new and retrofitted applications
  • Visualize the operation and functionality of potential upgrades to existing systems and then develop this into an accurate engineering proposal for customer approval
  • Maintain customer confidentiality
  • Approximately 70% travel

Qualifications                    

 

  • Ten or more years of position related experience required
  • Bachelor's Degree or in a technical field or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Prior OEM/Tier 1 plant level service and support experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Coatings, Paint and Sealer systems strongly preferred
  • Experience in retro-fitting new equipment to older existing equipment
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to perform US / metric conversions
  • Ability to perform onsite maintenance of INP products used in the finishing industry (i.e. pumps, regulators, spray guns)
  • Ability to assemble products with accuracy and within specifications
  • Problem solving and customer centric sales experience
  • Ability to communicate the advantages of a product clearly and directly to customer
  • Ability to communicate on a technical level with customer engineering to determine customer needs for potential projects
  • Strong ability to work independently without supervision
  • Ability to generate reports`
  • Able to read and interpret CAD files
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g. Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Proficient with Adobe
  • Must possess valid driver's license
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • A thorough knowledge of Paint Circulation systems is preferred. Working knowledge of the following industries is beneficial: Industrial Processing, Industrial Coatings, Chemical Processing , Plastics & Other Polymers, Machinery & Equipment, Transportation, Highway & Bridge , Composites , Appliances , AG/Lawn & Garden Equipment , Automotive Refinish , Life Sciences, Marine , Metals, Minerals & Glass, Textiles & Nonwovens

 

 

Physical Demands: While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
