Dürr is one of the world's leading suppliers of products, systems, and services, mainly for automobile manufacturing. Our range of products and services covers important stages of vehicle production. As a systems supplier, we plan and build complete paint shops and final assembly facilities. We also manufacture and supply automotive and industrial paint and sealing robotics. Our environmental technologies deal with procedures to improve energy efficiency and the exhaust air purification.

We are a growing organization, and we are seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to join our team. Together, with the momentum of our business vision, we can achieve international success and added innovation in all of the themes which Dürr influences at a global level.

Location: Southfield, MI

Position Summary: The position is to be the key General Assembly technical and sales leader to expand our General Assembly market for Turnkey and stand-alone systems.

Additionally, the Technical Sales Engineer combines technical knowledge with sales skills to provide advice and support on a range of products. They are the key point of contact for clients and provide both pre-sales and after-sales advice. They liaise regularly with other members of the sales team and colleagues from a range of departments, such as research, development, design, purchasing, production and quality, as well as senior company managers.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:     

  • Develop short and long term business plan for the General Assembly Market.
  • Search for new clients who might benefit from company products or services and maximize client potential in designated regions
  • Develop long-term relationships with clients through managing and interpreting their requirements
  • Persuade clients that a product or service best satisfies their needs in terms of quality, price and delivery
  • Negotiate tender and contract terms and conditions to meet both client and company needs
  • Support client quotations as needed
  • Provide pre-sales technical assistance and product education, and after-sales support services
  • Prepare sales forecast and keep account pipeline updated for assigned OEM accounts within the CRM system
  • Responsible for setting strategy on project in concert with the Director of Sales, Applications Engineering and Management, and GCD's or Key Account Managers.
  • Put Dürr in the best possible position to win Targeted projects
  • Meeting regular sales targets and coordinate sales projects
  • Support marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events
  • Make technical presentations and demonstrate how a product meets client needs
  • Establish effective internal communications regarding customers, products and services in order to maximize sales effectiveness
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of Dürr products, trends and developments in the industry
  • Liaise with other members of the sales team and other technical experts
  • Provide training and produce support material for other members of the sales team
  • Understand Dürr competition and project specific competition picture
  • Manage travel expenses within policy guidelines.
  • Travel as needed

Nonessential Functions:

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:                  

  • Bachelor Degree / Bachelor of Science preferred
  • A minimum of four years selling technical solution products into OEM customers preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of General Assembly products
  • Experience with developing effective strategies and selling proposals that win new orders preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to understand and maintain project schedules
  • Good time management skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Able to effectively communicate with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers, and customers
  • Able to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Able to technically define problems and propose solutions
  • Adaptable to change in a learning environment
  • Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary

Physical Demands: While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision.
